Application
TopFluor® Lyso PC may be used as a substratein phospholipase D (PLD) transphosphatidylation assay (thin-layer chromatography).
Biochem/physiol Actions
Phosphatidylcholine (PC) functions as a surfactant within the mucus to form a hydrophobic surface to inhibit bacterial penetrance. It is used to treat fat embolism. Phosphatidylcholine lowers the levels of cholesterol and triglycerides.
General description
Fluorescent derivative of lyso phosphatidylcholine with spectral properties similar to BODIPY-FL.
Phosphatidylcholines (PC) are the building blocks of eukaryotic membranes. It is also found at high levels in Caenorhabditis eleganslipid extracts. PC is an important component of the mucosal layer of the colon. It is a strong bilayer-forming lipid.
